FAQ’s

Who is eligible to apply?

Gestational carriers (surrogates) residing in the US or its territories who faced personal financial liability for surrogacy-related pregnancy, delivery, or postpartum medical/psychological bills within the past two years. This includes bills unpaid by intended parents/escrow or postpartum care outside your GC contract’s scope or time limits.

Do I need permission from my intended parents or agency to apply?

No. This grant is for you as the surrogate, and we do not contact intended parents, agencies, or other parties without your explicit written consent.

What expenses qualify?

Documented medical, hospital, or psychological bills (e.g., therapy for postpartum issues) tied to the surrogacy journey. Funds cover verified, already-paid expenses. In cases of active collections or verified hardship, we may disburse directly to hospitals, clinics, or collectors upon your request and with their payment details. This requires a signed authorization from you and direct verification with the creditor.

How much can I receive?

Grants range from $500 to $5,000 based on your verified out-of-pocket costs, active collections, or verified hardship. There’s no minimum bill amount, but awards match documented proof.

How do reimbursements work?

Approved grants are disbursed directly to you (via check, ACH, or wire) only after you submit proof of payment, such as receipts, bank statements, or cleared checks showing you covered the bill yourself. In cases of active collections or verified hardship, we will disburse directly to hospitals, clinics, or collectors upon your request and with their payment details. This requires a signed authorization from you and direct verification with the creditor.

When are the application deadlines?

Rolling submissions, but reviewed quarterly: June 30 (first cycle), September 30, December 31, March 31. Submit anytime before a deadline for that cycle.

When will I hear back and get paid?

Decisions and disbursements (if approved) occur by the end of the next quarter. For example, June 30 submissions get final payouts by September 30. You’ll receive email updates at key stages.

Can the foundation pay my bill collector or medical provider directly?

Yes, for active collections or large bills—we’ll coordinate with the provider after your approval. Please provide their contact/balance info with your applications; this speeds relief without you paying upfront.

Can I apply for multiple bills from the same surrogacy?

Yes—one application can cover multiple related expenses (e.g., hospital bill + therapy), as long as all are documented, paid (or requesting direct pay), and within the past two years.

What if I don’t have a full copy of my surrogacy contract?

Provide what you have (e.g., payment schedule pages or emails referencing terms). We’ll work with partial docs if corroborated by bills and correspondence; contact us for alternatives.

How do I know if my postpartum care qualifies as “not covered by the GC contract”?

If your contract specifies a coverage end-date (e.g., 6 weeks post-delivery) or excludes categories like mental health, and the care fell outside that, it qualifies. Highlight the relevant contract clause in your description.

Will applying affect my relationship with intended parents or agencies?

No—we keep your application fully separate and confidential. We do not notify or involve them unless you explicitly request mediation assistance.
